About BikeEye

A community-driven platform for safer cycling in Toronto

Our Mission

BikeEye was created to address a simple problem: bike lanes are only useful when they're clear. Every day, cyclists in Toronto encounter vehicles, delivery trucks, and other obstacles blocking their path, forcing them into traffic and creating dangerous situations.

By making it easy to report these obstructions, BikeEye creates a community-sourced dataset that shows where enforcement is needed most. This data empowers city planners, advocates, and policymakers to make evidence-based decisions about cycling infrastructure.

For Cyclists

Quickly report obstructions while riding. See where problem areas are before you go. Contribute to a safer cycling community.

For City Planners

Access aggregated data showing obstruction hotspots. Make evidence-based decisions about enforcement and infrastructure improvements.

For Advocates

Use real data to support advocacy campaigns. Show exactly where and when obstructions occur. Build compelling cases for change.

For Researchers

Access open data for academic research. Analyze patterns, trends, and correlations. Contribute to cycling safety literature.

Privacy First

BikeEye is designed with privacy in mind. We don't track your location continuously—only when you submit a report. License plates and faces in photos are automatically redacted before any images are stored. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.

We're fully compliant with PIPEDA and are committed to protecting your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Open & Transparent

BikeEye believes in open data. All aggregated report data is freely available for download and analysis. We're committed to transparency in how we collect, process, and share information.

Created By

BikeEye was created by Alaina Hardie, a Toronto-based full spectrum nerd and cycling advocate. The project was built to address the gap between reported bike lane obstructions and actionable data for city planners.
